Pursuing the Subject and the Unconscious – Plan 2025–2026

Reading/teaching group with personal responsibility – in the Jeep

The work in the reading group will be based on reading and processing the article by J. Lacan: “The Pursuit of the Subject and the Dialectic of Desire in the Freudian Unconscious.” This article opens up different lines of thought in Lacanian theory, with the rich graph of desire at the center.

The article will be divided into five parts, each part forming a kind of conceptual axis from the topics presented in the article. During the sessions, we will attempt to trace the logic behind the construction of the desire graph, which is a precedent for the discourse formula, and the essence of the themes that group it and present the relationships between the subject and the other.

There will be 8 monthly meetings in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem at the same time. All participants will gather in working and discussion groups of their choice. These group meetings will take place between the broad meetings, to read and discuss the part of the article at hand.

In addition, two meetings will be held to present the group’s work to all members of the Jeep.

In Tel Aviv, the broad gatherings will be held at the Jeep House, and the location of the gatherings in Jerusalem will be determined later.

A. The Unconscious – The Subversion of the Concept of Subject

B. What subject can be conceptualized? Discontinuity as a characterization, the section.

C. The ego, the ideal ego, imaginary relationships, aggression and death. The movement of demand and desire.

D. ?Che vuoi, the fantasy and the urge.

E. Pleasure and castration. The inverted scale of the law of desire.
